The New Evolution in Dental Hygiene Products and Technologies: What EVERY Hygienist Needs to Know

Course Overview and Description:
Is your dental hygiene career on autopilot? Are you practicing “out of habit” based on what you’ve learned in school? Dona Gabzdyl, RDH, BS, MBA can help jump-start your hygiene career by introducing you to the latest and greatest products and technologies in dental hygiene. Dona takes an introspective research-based approach into what’s old and what’s new so patients and practitioners can use the latest information that can be used tomorrow in practice. Dona’s program includes testimony from a range of veteran and novice clinicians alike, on what they’ve incorporated into their own clinical applications and could never practice without.

Course Objectives:
Participants will receive a general understanding of treatment modalities that enhance clinical practice, develop a perspective on optimal treatment options, develop clinical excellence standard to contribute to practice growth, and an understanding that one-size-does-not-fit-all in patient care.

Course Topics:

  • The new and evolutionary method of assessing decay - and the legal risks of using the traditional methods (i.e. x-rays and explorer)
  • New research on the role of pH and disease prevention
  • The role of chairside DNA testing in identifying:
    • Bacterial risk and guide therapy on periodontal disease causation
    • Genetic susceptibility to periodontal disease risk
    • Viral HPV status and oral cancer risk
