2014 Student Night Info

Sara Steinke, RDH
Student Relation Chairperson

May 7th marks the date of next NSDHS seminar.  The North Suburban Dental Hygiene Society would like to welcome the Second Year Students of the Harper Dental Hygiene program as the honored guests of the night. This seminar will have been the second opportunity for the students to be a part of an NSDHS seminar.

At the seminar, two to three students will be seated at each table with board members and other dental hygienists. This will give the students the opportunity to mingle with the members to get some insight about life post-graduation. This also can give the students a chance to see job opportunities outside of clinical practice. The students will get to listen to three sponsors that are present at the meeting and ask questions about products that are being discussed to which they can relate to their patients.  They will also get to listen to the seminar which will hopefully continue to add to their dental hygiene learning. The students can inquire about good places to start job searching and learn about the different private practice experiences from the attendees of the meeting.

The students will get to see the voting and election process of the new and returning members of the Executive Board. There has been interest in the Class of 2014 to become board members or obtain a chairperson committee position for the next session. The Class of 2014 has been hard at work in both the class room and the clinic for the last two years, and this is their opportunity to celebrate all of their hard work. As classes are wrapping up and patient requirements are almost all competed, the students will be eagerly awaiting the news about their National and Regional Board exams.

We at NSDHS look forward to welcoming the Harper Dental Hygiene Class of 2014 to the May 7th seminar and hope that the students find the meeting informative, insightful, and gets them excited about entering the world of private practice as Registered Dental Hygienists!
